This week the british born celebrity hairdresser Vidal Sassoon died at his home in Los Angeles, he was 84. ┬áHe opened his first salon in London in 1954 and gave what he called “geometry” and “architectural shape” to hair. He not only revolutionised hairdressing but went on to found a multi million pound international hair and beauty products empire. Making him a worldwide household name. Someone who was inspired by Vidal was Dundee hairdresser Irving Miskell-Reid who explains what hairdressing was like before Vidal.

An Inspirational Staff Day Out at Freedom Hairdressing

Staff from Freedom Hairdressing had a staff day out with a difference as they visited Maggies in Dundee whom they have raised thousands of pounds for over the last few years with fashion shows in the city. They then went on to enjoy a meal and film at Dundee Contemporary Arts it was of course Vidal Sassoon The Movie and founder of Freedom Hairdressing Irving Miskell-Reid was on hand to explain how he was inspired into hairdressing by reading a book on Vidal Sassoon 42 years ago. Also at the cinema was Dundee Film Maker Dylan Drummond who along with a creative team from all over Tayside will be working closely with Irving on a project at the Apex hotel in Dundee this sunday titled “Anatomy of a Photo Shoot” in which documentary film maker Dylan will capture all the creative and design aspects which go towards a successful photo shoot.
