The quarter finals of the World Schools Debating Championship sees Scotland versus England in the Rep Theatre later today. The winner will go on to the semi finals being filmed by The Dundee Channel later today.

Shell spilling oil in the North Sea as we pay more

Now as we are paying through the nose for fuel Shell has admitted to a large oil spill in the North Sea. More than 200 tonnes of oil could have entered the North Sea following a leak at an offshore platform according to estimates from Shell. The spill, the worst for a decade, began at the Gannet Alpha platform 112 miles east of Aberdeen last wednesday. Shell expect the oil sheen to disperse due to wave action and that it will not reach the shore.

Jesus had never heard of an ipad or broadband but he’ll no doubt be delighted to learn that the stories of him as recounted in the King James bible are being re-written by ordinary people piece by piece and being compiled instantly online in what is the worlds first digital hand written bible. The Scottish Bible Society paid a visit to Dundee to invite Dundonians to make their contribution to history in a cyber tent erected in the city square. Emma Galloway, Project Manager for the Scottish Bible Society explains,

Kay McIntyre Scottish Hairdresser of the Year finalist for a 5th time

Kay McIntyre has made it through to the final stages of the British Hairdressing Awards in London in November. Kay and her Art Team at the McIntyres Salons in Dundee created an eye catching collection for the fifth time. Kay who has held the title “Scottish Hairdresser of the Year” twice said it felt fantastic to be nominated for a fifth time and that a third win would mean an invitation to help judge future events. She added that it rubber stamped her work and training academy in the salons and that it brought well deserved attention to the creative community in Dundee on the eve of the arrival of the V&A.
