Four Dundee bands selected for T in the Park
Tennent’s Lager have revealed the T Break line-up for 2014 and four of Dundee’s top unsigned acts have made the bill. Tennent’s Lager put out their annual call in March for Scotland’s unsigned acts to submit their demos to T Break in the hope of landing one of 16 highly coveted slots on the T Break Stage at T in the Park.
Appearing on the T Break Stage this summer are quick-witted fan favourites Fath Goth, who have recently received critical acclaim from the likes of Kerrang magazine and have been nominated for a Scottish Alternative Music Award two years in a row.
Fat Goth drummer Mark Keiller said, “To be given the opportunity to play T in the Park this year means a great deal and it’s cool to know a band this odd can still be afforded the chance to play such a massive festival. See you in July!”
Joining them will be rock five-piece Scary People who, in their own words, had only one week to form a band before playing a sold out live show in Dundee, gaining them an impressive crowd response and a dedicated following ever since. Also on the bill are the emotionally heavy and sonically dense, Interpole-esque Vladimir and fresh faced pop rockers Model Aeroplanes who have been gathering huge momentum so far this year, including a slot at Radio 1’s Big Weekend in Glasgow this weekend.
Model Aeroplanes front man Rory Fleming-Stewart said, “We feel absolutely honoured to play on such a legendary stage at our favourite music festival. We’re really excited to bask in the great atmosphere and play a blinding show. Really, we can’t wait!”
Tennent’s Lager have been proudly supporting Scotland’s grassroots music scene through T Break for the past 19 years, providing the country’s freshest unsigned talent with the chance to showcase their material to fans, musicians and music industry insiders alike on the biggest platform for unsigned artists at T in the Park – the T Break Stage.

George Kyle, Head of Sponsorship at Tennent’s Lager said: “We are delighted with the line-up again this year, every year we’re amazed with the volume of fantastic entries T Break receives. We are immensely proud to continue to support Scotland’s grassroots music through T Break and I believe that former T Break band Biffy Clyro’s headline slot on the Main Stage this summer is testament to the importance of this support and to where it can lead”
Dave McGeachan, Senior Promoter from T Break partners DF Concerts sits on the judging panel. He said: “This is an incredibly strong year for Scottish music and the talent coming out of Scotland’s grassroots music scene in particular is of a very high standard. I feel we’ve managed to get a really great representation across many different genres with this year’s selection and I look forward to seeing some excellent live performances over the weekend.”
T in the Park 2014 takes places across the weekend from 10th – 13th July and tickets are on sale now, and available from www.tinthepark.com or www.ticketmaster.co.uk or 08444 999 990.

The Dundee Channel prepares to release Time Capsule video series.
10 years ago a 30 episode series was recorded in Tayside, Perthshire and Fife capturing many aspects of the towns and cities and was the forerunner to The Dundee Channel. In fact the original S-VHS video series was mothballed until the internet ran fast enough to allow streaming video over10 minutes long.
In preparation for this The Dundee Channel has created a login area on its site where it intends to post these decade old video tapes which feature Dundee, Lochee, Broughty Ferry, Perth, Monifieth, Carnoustie, Arbroath, Forfar and St Andrews – all before anyone had heard of video streaming or You Tube (2005).
