Cantiones Raise the Roof

Cantiones Raise the Roof

The Dundee Channel last recorded Cantiones Sacrae in the first year we launched. We are happy to share details of their upcoming concert to raise funds following thefts from the church where they regularly perform.

Cantiones Sacrae is a vocal ensemble that specialises in polyphonic choral music of the Renaissance period although the group also sings music composed in later centuries and compositions by contemporary composers. The group sings all its music unaccompanied with one voice per part, the purity of the voices giving Cantiones Sacrae its distinctive sound. The members of Cantiones Sacrae have adopted St Salvador’s Church in Dundee as their “home” and recorded their most recent CD “Renaissance” in its wonderful acoustic. The Members of CANTIONES SACRAE are: Linda Dallas (Soprano) Lisa Rose (Alto) Jonathan Matheson-Dear (Tenor) Graeme Adamson (Bass)

Saturday 20th September at 7.30pm features an hour-long concert of some of Cantiones Sacrae’s favourite music wholly in aid of St Salvador’s Church to aid roof restoration following two recent lead thefts.

St Salvador Street, Dundee, DD3 7EW

or Glamis Street (off Main St)

ADMISSION *£5 at the door

T in the Park Strathallan Castle

Statement on major applications

A spokesperson for Perth & Kinross Council said:

“Perth & Kinross Council is aware that there is a great deal of interest, both locally and nationally, in the progress of planning consent for T in the Park to be held at Strathallan Castle in July 2015.

“As of today’s date (Thursday 11 September) we have not received a Proposal of Application Notice or a Planning Application for T in the Park to be held at Strathallan Castle, nor do we have any indication of when these will be submitted. However, as there is a requirement for an Environmental Impact Assessment, as directed by Scottish Ministers, T in the Park cannot go ahead at Strathallan Castle until planning consent has been granted.

“Notwithstanding the Council’s support to retain the festival within the area we take our responsibilities as a planning authority seriously, and will consider any planning application from D F Concerts to hold T in the Park at Strathallan Castle on its own merits and in line with national planning guidance.”

The Coaltown Daisies play Brechin Music Festival

‘Best Folk Performance’ winners The Coaltown Daisies are a rising duo of singer songwriters who write and perform folk, soul and americana music.

The Coaltown Daises bring together the musical stylings of established singer-songwriters, Lynzy Moutter and Vivienne Bern. It is no surprise that their shared passion for music in all shapes and sizes steered them towards meeting in the middle and collaborating on their original songs. Detailing their music with dual harmonies, intelligent lyrics and raw emotion, they want nothing more than to perform them in front of a great audience. Described as ‘spell-binding’, ‘spine-tingling’ and ‘breath-taking’, The Coaltown Daisies have performed at an abundance of venues and festivals on their journey so far and have a very busy future ahead; they want to continue sharing their music as far and wide as possible and already have great plans to keep on doing so in the coming years.Find them on Facebook here  https://www.facebook.com/tcdmusic

They will perform at Dukes Corner in Dundee next weekend.
