The picture shows Barkit Bella and friends wishing you all a Merry Christmas back in December.

There was a carnival atmosphere in Brechin this afternoon with the Harley Davidson ride out, Waterslide and Street Fair. It didn’t matter who you were you just grabbed a guitar – real or inflatable – and partied on. Official 11 piece band Diva 50 are joined by two young members of the audience.

Dundee Musicians Award 2014

Dundee Musicians Award 2014

Dundee Musicians Award 2014

Applications are now being invited for the Dundee Musicians’ Award 2014. Grants up to a maximum of £500 are available.

The Dundee Musicians’ Award is organised by Leisure and Culture Dundee, working in partnership with Dundee City Council.

It was established in 2008 to support the work of outstanding Dundee-based musicians by awarding grants towards the costs involved in creating new work in any genre, research and professional development.

The awards support projects that look at creative development through collaborations, working with new partners, or new producers. There does not have to be a recording or gig at the end of the process: the creative process is valid enough.

Support will be for applications that will stimulate fresh and innovative work, and to give musicians time to experiment and explore. You can also apply to attend industry showcases or network events.

We hope that the Award will encourage musicians to stay in the City and that the existence of the Award will raise the profile of Dundee-based musicians at a local, national and even international level.

Closing date for applications is Friday September 5 2014.

One successful recipient of the award has been Dundee band The Mirror Trap, who recently supported Placebo on their eight-date arena tour of Russia.
