Dundee Channel launches Edit 4 and Edit 5

The Dundee Channel has built on its recent success by introducing a 4th and 5th edit desk. A web update desk has also been introduced to separate its web site building operation from the video channel for the first time. Three video editors will work under the Channel Editor now based in Whitehall Street, Dundee. There will be an increase in video content and local businesses and the public will notice an increased visual presence in Dundee City Centre from January 2013. The remaining edit suites provide an overflow and back up system and are preparation for the development of a live feed system.

Dundee Channel doubles its output

Dundee Channel doubles its outputThe Dundee Channel has launched Edit 2 a dedicated news edit suite. The Channel processes a huge amount of video footage every year – now in excess of 2000 videos since its launch in 2009 – and has just doubled its capacity at a stroke to over 730 edited videos per year. Finding an audience for the on line content was always the challenge but with an audience base of 470,000+ a year and a growing list of both advertisers and programme sponsors – the editing capacity is to be increased over the next year allowing producers to create more original content rather than repeat the same local news stories.

Transform Me Training – The online LIVE finale

Transform Me Training - The online LIVE finaleThe Dundee Channel has had a fantastic week firstly assisting the NHS live stream from Discovery Point then following that with the live finale to the 12 week Transform Me Training series which ran for a second year on The Dundee Channel in association with Good Health and Fitness in City Quay Dundee. The live links have been a great development in 2012 and the next logical step is live multi camera which is now in an advanced stage. The Dundee Channel is soon to commission Studio 3 which is a dedicated news studio and  the long term plans for Studio 4 in the city centre are coming ever closer. Apparently the only hold up to Studio 4 is whether or not it should be capable of holding an audience. In the meantime viewers can expect the launch of a more structured format to the Dundee Channels output in the near future.

NHS Annual Review 2012 from Discovery Point Dundee

The Dundee Channel streamed the NHS Annual Review live from Discovery Point today.  Health Secretary Nicola Sturgeon had the opportunity to question Tayside Health Board about their performance in the last 12 months. Originally this webcast was not to be filmed by The Dundee Channel but the signal was only to be streamed over the internet. A last minute technical hitch in connecting another companies cameras into the internet meant The Dundee Channel was able to act quickly and record the event on its own camera ensuring the two and a half hour webcast went ahead as planned.

Dundee Channel links with Digital Vinyl TV

Dundee Channel links with Digital Vinyl TV. The Dundee Channel has linked up with the Underground Electronic Web Channel – Digital Vinyl TV – who offer Underground Music Online and mix of techo, tribal, techhouse and progressive house in the weekend sessions. The Dundee Channel is expanding its contacts through the global web streaming community and this channel offers content not already streamed by The Dundee Channel. The link up came about when it was left streaming one day during a studio recording and we realised other people might like this too.
